There are two types of cholesterol, LDL and HDL. HDL is commonly referred to as “good” as it helps remove LDL out of the bloodstream. LDL is used to deliver cholesterol into the bloodstream. High levels of LDL are dangerous whereas higher levels of HDL usually signify a more healthy heart and blood vessel system. While you don’t want either number to be significantly high, a high HDL is not always a bad thing, especially if the LDL level is also high.
